Dr. Sarah Lowenthal

Dr. Lowenthal is an eating disorders expert physician and Board Certified Family Physician who provides compassionate medical care for children, adolescents and adults with eating disorders. Utilizing a social justice, Health At Every Size lens, Dr. Lowenthal cares for individuals of all genders, sizes, shapes and abilities and at any stage of their recovery.

Dr. Lowenthal completed medical school at the University of Chicago and residency at the University of California San Francisco (UCSF) where she served as Chief Resident for the Department of Family and Community Medicine. She is one of few primary care physicians nationwide who is been designated by the International Association of Eating Disorder Professionals (IAEDP) as a Certified Eating Disorders Specialist and Consultant (CEDS-C) and supervisor for trainee clinicians. She is a former Medical Liaison to and Board Member of the IAEDP SF Bay Area Chapter and a member of the Academy of Eating Disorders.

Described by her patients as smart, warm and empathetic, Dr. Lowenthal has been named a Top Doctor by Marin Magazine 2020, a Top 10 Metro Area Doctors 2014 and one of East Bay’s “Best Doctors” by Oakland Magazine in 2012. She is also is a six-time Patient’s Choice Award recipient and a four-time Compassionate Doctor Award recipient.

Outside of the office she enjoys spending time with friends, hiking on Mt. Tam, singing, and giving belly rubs to her miniature dachshund, Schultz.
